Guys, it's really not that big a deal. Modern will be fine.

Modern isn't a T4 format anymore, it's faster. Jace barely impacts the board. He still doesn't help getting T3 Karn'd, doesn't stop you getting Boros Charmed to death. Doesn't interact with most combo decks.

Jace isn't going to be ubiquitous, he's just going to be played,

jace impacts the fair matchups much more than the unfair matchups (also jace by definition is a midrange card, so it can go with discard and disruption, which is what will eventually happen)

i don't think you understand just how good he is

I know Jace is great, but Modern isn't Legacy, it's not about attrition and grinding out resources, where Jace shines, it's about linear strategies trying to do their thing first. Sure, it makes Ux midrange decks better, which is great cause they're not really a thing in the format right now. He'll probably make it into UW as a late game card, but even there you can't just drop Jace turn 4 and win the game. He does too little in too many matchups to take over theformat. He'll be played and I'm sure he'll be great, but he's not going to warp the format.

The only deck I'm worried about Jace being good in is some sort o Grixis Control where you can viably Inquisition -> Mana Leak -> Liliana -> Jace.

you are misunderstanding, i am saying that jace is going to warp the fair deck mirror which will cause modern to lose a sizable portion of its diversity which seems at odds with the format goals

(uw is ironically not his best home)

thoughtseize is probably marginally better than inquisition now, and you really have a midrange shell there (although there is the issue of delve creatures being much worse with jace around and you need some creature options, although black may just be there for fatal push, discard, and liliana)

the real question is which three-drop sweeper do you play

I've seen Bontu's Last Reckoning being thrown around, but it's probably Anger or... whatever the devoid Infest one is

That's the turkey. The mana is so good I can't see a very good reason to play return over anger when dredge is a legitimate deck.

you mean t2 tarmogoyf

i don't think you want to be casting a nissa on turn 5 unless it's vital force, and honestly after those first four turns you should be ahead in virtually every fair mirror

the real question is which manlands are the best, given midrange wants to play lots of lands (grixis really only gets creeping tar pit, which alone might actually be enough)

I like steward of Elements, you can play her Turn 3 if you don’t get Liliana. Brainstorm+Scry2 seems good, either scry first if you’re digging for something, or after to move the 2 cards you pitched to the bottom. Eventually she is a win on too with the lands. Her - ability plays really well with Jace too. If you didn’t draw Jace she can help find him faster too. Boyfriend could be good too, I guess it depends on the game. You can figure out after the Iok/Thoughtseize lol

you really only want the premium planeswalkers, and nissa is not premium (vital force really isn't either in modern)

the second 3-drop is probably something like clique (or bitterblossom/tarmogoyf holding up spell pierce mana), kitchen finks was my original thought but it can strain the manabase too much toward wanting double green early when double black/double blue is virtually required early

keep in mind that jace and liliana make narrow cards like spell pierce less of a liability, and disruption and a good clock can help in the combo matchups (then you can have cards in the board for the fair matchups)

Can anyone explain to me how the creators of "Force of Will" haven't been sued into the ground?
