I'm humble enough that I'm willing to work my way up.

Not everything he says is terrible, but the fact that he intentionally uses this misleading phrasing: "if fired, Joseph would be the third of the Broncos' past four coaches who was on the job for two or fewer seasons." to hide the fact that Joseph would be only the second coach of the last four fired after two or fewer seasons is ridiculous.

your wish has been granted, so now it is time to know how much of it is elway's fault

also these potential candidates are all awful so i am putting the list here for posterity so we can mock espn analysts together

Quote:
Potential candidates for the Broncos job from ESPN's Jeff Legwold:

Mike McCarthy: Yes, McCarthy is available because he was fired by the Packers, but he is also in the league's top 30 in wins all time. That includes a Super Bowl win.

Mike Munchak: The Steelers' offensive line coach was a Hall of Famer as a player who might not have been given a legitimate chance to succeed as the Titans coach, when he was fired in 2013. He's a respected teacher.

Gus Bradley: The Chargers' defensive coordinator has head-coaching experience in what is considered a shallow pool of candidates. He will have to explain what happened in his tenure in Jacksonville, but Bradley excels at the face-to-face sit downs that often tip owners and team presidents.

Chuck Pagano: A Boulder, Colorado, native whose father was one of the notable high school coaches in the region. Pagano is another defensive coach who would have to explain what, exactly, he would do with the Broncos' offense.

Leslie Frazier: The Bills defensive coordinator has interviewed with the team's decision-makers before in John Elway's tenure as the president of football operations/general manager.

Brian Flores: The Patriots defensive coordinator is at the top of the list of most team executives. He's 37 and might have to wait for a head-coaching job. He, too, would have to explain what to do with the offense.

Why does everyone seem to be forgetting about Dave Toub when it comes to HC candidates? I haven't seen any of the sports media guys even mention his name.

because he is a special teams coordinator, which apparently means no knowledge of offense or defense

the real issue is that you really need an offense-oriented head coach and correspondingly a new quarterback to go with said head coach because case keenum is low-ceiling, so hiring dave toub means that you need to find an offensive coordinator that is willing to be that which probably means hiring from the college offensive coordinators due to the lack of options in the nfl

still, at least your head coach did not endorse hue jackson as his replacement, the bengals are great comedy already

Kubiak is rumored to be looking to come back into the league as an OC, and while it's not a sure thing he'd be interested in coming back to the Broncos, Elway will definitely hire him if he is. And Toub/Kubiak in my opinion would be a great option.

As far as a new QB, there just aren't a lot of good options right now, so I think they'll have Keenum play out his contract next year while focusing on trying to draft some talent at other positions and then look at getting a new QB that offseason.

there are plenty of options, but it involves trading draft picks and overpaying keenum as a backup unless he has no cap hit

Elway did set up Keenum's contract so he could be cut this year without a cap hit if that's the direction they want to go.

bad news is that kubiak is probably not going to be your offensive coordinator

good news is that he will not do that for anyone else

best news is that your kicker is not nearly as good as the bears kicker at hitting uprights

the minnesota timberwolves should probably consider not hiring an ex-bull coach since they just fired one

i wonder who they are looking at

Quote:
Former Chicago Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg is in serious consideration by Minnesota owner Glen Taylor to become either the general manager or head coach in the future, league sources told ESPN.

oh dear

the broncos are down to vic fangio and mike munchak as their head coach candidates

in other words, it is all about the offensive coordinator hire

Reports are they did in fact bring back Kubiak as OC, although no official announcement yet.

now we will see if he can develop a qb

i expect that the broncos will be drafting a qb because keenum makes too much for a low-tier starter (if flacco can be had cheap, that would be an option as well but only a stopgap)

the comedy option is hope foles leads the eagles to another super bowl and then elway goes all-in for carson wentz and the eagles are willing to trade him away
